PROPAGATING SUCCULENTS

It's easy to multiply your succulent love- just propagate them with this easy little guide!  If you have a succulent that is damaged, overgrown, or just plain want more plants, try this method.  First, pop off the "leaves" at the stem.  They should come off easily if you gently grab them with both fingers and bend them backwards.  Next, either lay them on their sides in some potting soil or stick them 1/4 to 1/2 way into the soil.  Keep the soil moist, but not soggy.  In a few weeks, you should have little baby succulents on the sideways pieces and nice roots on the stuck-in ones.  I usually have about a 75% success rate with propagating this way.  The best part is, no rooting hormone is needed and you can salvage your leggy plants this way.  

These might make a great Christmas gift to any green, or not-so-green, thumbs in your circle of family and friends.  Just pop them in a cute container- my favorite right now is a copper end cap from the plumbing section at your local hardware store.  Voila! Presents!
